If I ever got a red heeler, I would call it Dingo lol

I grew up with two of these dogs, Nicky and Blue. I remember them
attempting to herd us kids when we ran around the backyard but they were
sweet, fun and extremely loyal especially to my mother. Blue died in her
sleep when she was 15 and Nicky died at 16. He had cancer and we put him to
sleep. It’s been a while and we got over it but I still miss my childhood
dogs.

I’ve got a Heeler, Indie, and they are truly one of the smartest breeds of
dog out there. They pick up on things so quick and they are incredibly
loyal! For all you ACD lovers out there, check out my YouTube channel to
see videos of my ACD. Much appreciated if you do.
I just got a blue heeler a week ago. His name is trigger and he’s a breed
with husky. Look at my Google plus page of you want to see him ^_^ also he
does tend to nip at my ankles….. Doesn’t hurt just SO ANNOYING >.<
I have a red heeler – Sisqi. She is 15 and in brilliant shape. She has been
an amazing companion, so smart and easy to train, and extremely loyal. I
trained her to walk off lead and wait at the road for me to tell her to
cross. She was a ball-dog in her youth and once, many years ago I
accidentally threw a ball onto the road. She ran to the kerb and stopped,
not following the ball, but giving me a look that seemed to say ‘you know I
can’t fetch it there.’ I would not have performed that experiment on
purpose, but it proved that once you train these guys they are so obedient.
She did need a lot of exercise when a young dog, she loved swimming and I
would take her to the beach every day and just pelt the ball into the
water. She has had very few health problems, bar a few accidents. I don’t
let her chase a stick anymore. The one thing I would say though is she is
not good with little children, and I try to keep them away from her. She
can be snappy and bad tempered with other dogs too, mainly ones who are
bouncing around her. She earned the nickname ‘fun police’ for it. But I
totally adore her.

How would one of these do with a family of 5 two kids one 12 and the other
10 we have a small yard but are committed to exercise if this isn’t the dog
for us let me know with suggestions that could suit us better. This would
also be our first dog.

hmmmm…. I feel like the need for training is a bit understated, largely
due to their high intelligence and independence, these guys usually need a
really firm and consistent hand. otherwise bad things can occur…. good
vid tho.

I have a blue heeler. She has a docked tail, we got her ten years ago with
a truck no body wanted her, so they gave us her and she already had a
docked tail. She gets about 30 minutes of exercise a day she’s a couch
potatoe. Lol and every time I run she bites my feet lol. But it’s weird she
doesn’t have a long coat like the dogs in the video.

Blue Heelers are the best!! They do get attached to a specific person
though, so I feel bad when I have to go back to college. My childhood dog
has grown with me into adulthood. Shes my baby going on 14 years! :)
