Martha Boneta had the same dream every since she was a young child: to own and operate her own farm. When she finally realized this dream, however, a web of connected groups and individuals threatened to put her small, organic farm out of business.
“Farming in Fear”examines Martha’s nearly 10-year ordeal of trying to earn a living operating her small farm. Despite facing obstacles created by local government and personal attacks, Martha never gave up on her dream, and she even worked to ensure that other small farmers in Virginia would never experience what Martha did.
“Farming In Fear” originally appeared on Honest Enterprise’s YouTube channel and garnered more than 75,000 views. The documentary has always been a project of the Charles Koch Institute, and we are proud to host it here on our channel.
