Scientific tests are being conducted on human bones found in a Brisbane park which could be from colonial or pre-colonial times.
Council workers uncovered the human jaw bone in Teneriffe Park, the site of an old rubbish tip, on Tuesday, sparking a police investigation.
Police then discovered arm bones, a leg bone and another unidentified bone at the park yesterday.
The bones were only found centimetres from the surface.
A crime scene will remain in place on Thursday, although police have said the discovery doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
Early investigations suggest the bones could be hundreds of years old, with scientific testing to be conducted to determine the age of the bones.
It appears the bones may be from a private burial either from colonial times or before European settlement.
