SOTT Earth Changes Summary – September 2015: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs

January 2, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
SOTT ‘Earth Changes’ video summary of extreme weather events and environmental indicators of ‘planetary upheaval’ (seismic, volcanic, etc) in September 2015.

No matter the season or ‘normal’ climate, these days vehicles, homes and people are being washed away in deluges – the world over – on a regular basis. Forget “one month’s average rainfall falling within hours” – last month, TWO MONTHS’ average rainfall fell within a day and turned parts of southern Japan into inland seas. In the US, Utah experienced its worst ever flash-flooding, and the entire Eastern Seaboard was soaked with up to a foot of rain. This month, we also have clips of deluges in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Norway, Thailand, Sierra Leone, and New Zealand, along with powerful storms hitting Brazil and Taiwan.

Spectacular volcanic eruptions in Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Indonesia foreshadowed a massive 8.3 magnitude earthquake struck off Chile, sending a 4.5 meter tsunami crashing into the coast and causing widespread damage. Hailstones the size of footballs fell in Naples, Italy. Brisbane, Australia, was blanketed in up to 4 inches (8cm) of hail, while a gigantic hole opened up on a nearby beach and swallowed a campsite. Meteor fireball sightings continue their meteoric rise, with spectacular sightings last month over Bangkok and Los Angeles.

Wildfires continue burning up much of California, which last month saw its ‘third-largest’ wildfire in history as whole towns were consumed and tens of thousands of residents were forced to flee. The other major outbreak of wildfires on the planet in September occurred in Indonesia, from where a smoky haze enveloped much of southeast Asia for the second time in three years. ‘Slash-and-burn’ farming is being blamed, but the fires occur in peatlands that release lots of methane, leaving us wondering if the primary fuel source for these fires is coming up from below.

Extreme weather also hit the Middle East, which was engulfed in an ‘unprecedented’ sandstorm that stretched from Iraq to Cyprus and south to Saudi Arabia. A tragic and incredibly symbolic event occurred in the heart of Islam’s ‘holy city’ on the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, when a powerful and unusual thunderstorm descended on Mecca and winds blew a large construction crane belonging to Bin Laden Construction onto the Grand Mosque. 111 people were killed and hundreds more injured.

These were the signs of the times in September 2015…

New Australia rural broadband satellite is launched

January 2, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
A satellite designed to provide high-speed internet services to 200,000 Australians living in rural areas has been launched from South America.

A 780-tonne rocket carrying the A0m (£231m; 0m) communications hardware blasted off from French Guiana without incident in fine weather.

The satellite is reported by Australian media to be one of the most expensive commercial satellites ever launched.

It has been described as the “great hope” of Australia’s broadband network.

The satellite, known as Sky Muster, is designed to deliver broadband internet services to Australians in remote areas, including Norfolk, Christmas, Macquarie and Cocos islands.

Sky Muster was launched shortly before a smaller Argentinean communications satellite from the same rocket.

It’s one of the world’s largest communication satellites and is purpose-built to deliver broadband to Australia – an incredibly vast country,” National Broadband Network (NBN) spokeswoman Frances Kearey was quoted by ABC as saying.

“The NBN satellite service will provide speeds that people in the cities take for granted – opening up new opportunities in education, health, social connectivity and business.”

It is hoped that Sky Muster will be connected to NBN users by the second half of next year – after a series of tests have been carried out.

After its launch the satellite travelled through the earth’s atmosphere attached to the European-made Ariane 5 rocket at speeds approaching 11,000km/h for about 11 minutes before reaching space, the Financial Review’s James Chessell – who witnessed the take-off – reported.

The flawless lift-off was witnessed by senior NBN officials from a control room in the Arianespace launch centre on the edge of the Amazon rainforest.

NBN Chairman Ziggy Switkowski said that it had been “a historic day”.

Sky Muster and another satellite due to be launched in the beginning of 2016 have been strongly supported by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull – who in his previous job as communications minister championed it as the best way of tackling slow broadband speeds in rural areas.

All through their high schooldays
Both members of the 4H Club
Both active in the FFA

After graduation Mary Anne went out
lookin’ for a bright new world
Wanda looked all around this town
and all she found was Earl

Wartime Farm Episode 4 of 8

January 2, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
The team discovers that Wartime Farmers could lose everything – their home and their land – if the government did not think they were productive enough. Over 2,000 farmers deemed ‘not good enough’ were thrown off their farms during the war.
Ruth, Peter and Alex face a World War Two-style government inspection, meeting an expert who tells them to grow and to get their milking operation up and running.
In the process they confront the wave of mechanisation that government regulation brought to wartime farming, grappling with a new tractor and getting to grips with a milking machine. Yet they are dealt a bitter blow with the loss of a prime dairy cow. Peter also launches a rabbit-breeding concern and they take in the latest release from the Ministry of Information, who made films urging farmers to use the very latest techniques in the fields.
The team also discovers the chilling story of a local farmer who lost his life in a dramatic shoot-out with the police after the authorities tried to remove him from his farm for failing to meet his required targets.
With their hard work completed the inspector returns to judge the state of the farm and award them their all-important official ‘grade’ – determining whether their efforts have been a success or a failure.
Wartime Farm was produced by the BBC in partnership with The Open University.
