All dairy farm workers and managers should watch this video to learn basic principles for health and safety. This video explains basic safety and hygiene practices that will keep employees and cows healthy and free from diseases (e.g. washing your boots before entering the barn, wearing gloves, etc.) Safety topics covered include wearing proper clothing, keeping a drug-free policy on the farm, fire prevention, electrical safety, equipment and machinery safety, ladder safety, safety in pens and when working outdoors, proper lifting techniques, handling animals, working outdoors, treating cows, administering drugs to cows, proper needle disposal, bull safety and moving/treating down cows.

This video is part of a dairy safety training series titled “Considering Human and Animal Safety,” produced under the direction of Dairy Extension Specialist Robert Hagevoort, PhD.
