Unearthing America’s Rural History
Description given on Youtube:
Co-PIs Elizabeth Wuerffel and Jeffrey Will of Valparaiso University, along with the rest of their team (Alan Craig of XSEDE, Marcus Slavenas and Sandeep Puthanveetil Satheesan of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, and Paul Rodriguez of the San Diego Supercomputer Center) have spent the last year analyzing the images Dust Bowl-era photography. This research, funded solely by XSEDE and conducted on both SDSC’s Comet and Oasis, entailed using pre-existing algorithms, as well as creating new algorithms, to study the large corpus of images belonging to the Farm Security Administration – Office of War Information from 1935-1944, held by the Library of Congress (LOC). These images provide a glimpse into rural life and small-town America during this decade and throughout important events in America’s history such as the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression.

HAARP RING, AUSTRALIA 2
Description given on Youtube:
Another odd image appears on the Australian weather map. This is centred around a radar known area, BlackJack Mountain situated in New South Wales. Odd thing is, it seems to have BOM also trying to work out what this cause is, as they have a print, on the page saying:
“If you notice any circular patterns or straight lines originating from the centre of the radar location, this is due to occasional interference to the radar data. The Bureau is currently investigating ways to reduce these interferences.”
This is the 2nd odd sighting i have viewed in about 1 week.
Does anyone have an explanation as to what these might be?

Smart Farm – Sorghum Farming
Description given on Youtube:
Sorghum is considered one of the crops that have received the least attention from scientific researchers in Kenya – a situation that has earned it the tag of being an orphan crop. This is despite its hugely untapped potential to boost the country’s food security which is heavily dependent on maize. Tonight on our weekly agribusiness segment “Smart Farm”, we take a look at how sorghum is now gaining commercial ground and how it has enriched the life of Samuel Achoro, a farmer in Homa Bay County.

Tractor Tire Flat Repair Part 1
Description given on Youtube:
While disking in the manure we spread on the dirt field, we got a flat tire on the rear of our Massey Ferguson 3070 tractor. We removed the tire and hauled it home. Then replaced the tube and patched the hole in the tire from the inside.
It should hold for now, but we expect the tire will need to be replaced before too long as the patch can actually be seen from the outside of the tire lol.
Anyway, it was a quick fix and it got the machine back up and running. We brought it back home and will get back disking once the ground dries up from the rain we’ve had.
