Developing a vaccine for a highly contagious cattle disease

May 11, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) is a highly contagious disease that affects cattle throughout most of sub Saharan Africa. It is one of the most serious livestock diseases with greatest impacts in pastoralist areas. Up to 15% of infected animals die: milk yields of infected cows drop by up to 90%: meat production is reduced, and infected draught oxen are less able to work. Existing vaccines have side effects and give limited protection. Research is underway at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) to develop a more effective vaccine.

Husqvarna Chainsaw Safety Tips

May 10, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
Learn how to safely operate your Husqvarna chainsaw with these chainsaw safety tips and guidelines. Avoid all situations that you feel are beyond your capabilities.

Before operating your chainsaw, wear proper chainsaw safety gear, including ear and eye protection, gloves, boots, and appropriate clothing. Always have a safety kit and a fire extinguisher near by.

Every Hasqvarna Chainsaw is equipt with a chain break. The chain brake is designed to stop the chain should you encounter any kickback and is designed to reduce any accidents. Be aware of the kickback zone. Hold the chainsaw firmly and do not let go if you experience kickback. Use the chain brake when moving over short distances to prevent the chain from hitting anything or anyone.

Be sure to practice fuel safety when refueling your chainsaw. Never refuel the chainsaw when it is running or is still hot from use. Make sure your fueling area has plenty of ventilation as well. Wipe any access fuel off of the chainsaw. Find Husqvarna Chainsaws at http://www.Lowes.com/Husqvarna

Did you know that the typical V6 ignition system generates one hundred and fifty sparks per second at three thousand R-P-M? And that each spark event is precisely timed to within milliseconds?

Your vehicles’ ignition system operates using sophisticated computer controls. Sensors provide the engine management computer with crankshaft speed and position. The computer uses this information to accurately trigger the ignition coils. The Ignition coils generate a high voltage electrical pulse to form the ignition spark. The spark jumps the gap at the spark plugs, igniting the air/fuel mixture within the engine cylinders.

Key components of the ignition system include: Crankshaft and Camshaft position sensors, Engine Control Module, Ignition Coils, Knock Sensors and Spark Plugs.

Malfunctions can cause drivability concerns including an illuminated or flashing check engine light or even a no start condition.

The ignition system contains high voltage electrical energy; avoid touching ignition system components while the engine is running.
Ignoring a flashing check engine light can damage the catalytic converter and exhaust system. Visit your local ACDelco service center for expert service and quality parts.
