The jumper cables and welding rod are always in the truck, but this is the first time they have been needed – and it all worked out for our friend’s truck. The chassis was discovered to be badly cracked near Well 20 on the Canning Stock Route in Western Australia and it would have been dangerous to proceed. Two 12v starting batteries were connected in series with jumper cables. After repair, our mate was able to exit the CSR via the Tallawanna to Newman to get the vehicle checked out – no further repairs necessary before returning to Perth on the bitumen.
