Canada’s Economy in a Generational Downturn – Economy hurting coast-to-coast – YouTube

February 9, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
You know oil is crashing with over supply..what about LNG?

Sep 3, 2015 – The window to build liquefied natural gas project in Canada and elsewhere has closed amid a global supply glut.

Aug 31, 2015 – Asian LNG price faces steep fall. … Asian liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices could fall a further 25 percent in coming months as new supply, falling demand and weaker oil prices put it on par with iron ore and coal as the worst performing commodity of recent years.

Jan 16, 2016 – The price of LNG appears to be set for another downturn in 2016 with new projects in Australia and the US weighing on spot prices.

Food prices have suffered their sharpest monthly fall in seven years, piling pressure on hard-pressed British farmers to increase borrowing and on supermarkets to pass on more savings to customers.
The Food Price Index, collated by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, showed its steepest drop since 2008 last month and is now at a level not seen since 2010. The index tracks wholesale prices of key food commodities such as milk, wheat, cheese and meat.

A “sad year” for agricultural commodities in 2015 will likely be followed by more weakness for grains in 2016.

Global factors….Elections in Argentina, which have ushered in a freer crop export regime and allowed peso depreciation, have “created extra price pressure”.

USDA forecast that the stocks-to-use ratio for wheat will rise “above 30% for the first time since 2009-10”, reflecting “enormous” inventories.

Triple cropping Triticale, Sorghum-Sudan and Alfalfa, Dutch Meadows Dairy

January 30, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
Dutch Meadows Dairy in central Michigan triple crops triticale, a winter annual after corn silage, harvests about 6 ton/acre as-fed of silage in late May, seeds sorghum-sudan, a summer annual and harvests 4-5 tons/acre in early August, then seeds alfalfa by August 15. Triticale and sorghum-sudan make great feed for far-off dry cows and heifers. This cycles manure nutrients through the cropping system, maintains an active root system throughout the year, and provides three windows of opportunity for manure application: 1) after corn silage, 2) after triticale harvest, and 3) after sorghum-sudan/before alfalfa.
