Seasons and the Sun: Crash Course Kids 11.1

February 4, 2017 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
Updated with graphics fixed. Thanks for pointing that out!

Ever wonder why we have seasons? A lot of people think it’s because the Earth gets further away from the sun in winter, and closer in the summer. But, it’s actually more interesting than that. In this episode of Crash Course Kids, Sabrina talks about how the Earth’s tilt is responsible for Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

This first series is based on 5th grade science. We’re super excited and hope you enjoy Crash Course Kids!

///Standards Used in This Video///
5-ESS1-2. Represent data in graphical displays to reveal patterns of daily changes in length and direction of shadows, day and night, and the seasonal appearance of some stars in the night sky. [Clarification Statement: Examples of patterns could include the position and motion of Earth with respect to the sun and selected stars that are visible only in particular months.] [Assessment Boundary: Assessment does not include causes of seasons.]

Climate change: Fact or fiction? – Head to Head

January 20, 2017 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
Some scientists say the earth’s climate changes constantly and naturally, but the vast majority of them believe the current rise in global temperature is man-made, and could be catastrophic for the planet. But is all this but a case of extreme ‘climate alarmism’? Climate change sceptic Richard Lindzen is challenged on his view that concern about global warming is alarmist nonsense.

Seasons on Earth | Videos for Kids

January 8, 2017 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
You will learn about “Seasons on Earth” in this video. On our planet earth, we see changes in weather conditions after every few months. We categorize these changes that occur every few months as seasons.

There are 5 seasons, i.e. summer, winter, monsoon, autumn and spring.

Summer season is the hottest time of the year, where the days are long and hot.

Winter season is the coldest time of the year, when the days are short and nights are cold.

We experience a lot of rainfall during the monsoon season. Rain is very essential for the proper growth of crops.

In autumn season, the trees shed their leaves and the weather is a little cooler.

While, during spring season, the days are long and warm. Many flowers bloom during spring. It is seen as a season of growth and renewal.
