A potentially deadly heat wave is set to hit Queensland while Victoria is today bracing for a possible return of an “asthma thunderstorm” that killed eight people.

Victoria’s chief health officer has advised asthma sufferers to remain vigilant with thunderstorms forecast to hit the state’s east.

Wednesday’s storms are not expected to be another thunderstorm asthma event, but asthma sufferer were nonetheless warned of potential complications.

The health warning from Professor Charles Guest comes nine days after Melbourne was struck by an unprecedented thunderstorm asthma event that has so far resulted in the deaths of eight people
Further north, Brisbane is set to swelter through its hottest December day in 15 years when an extreme heatwave hits southern Queensland.

The forecast has prompted Queensland Health to prepare a safety plan usually reserved for cyclones and floods.

Hospitals across the region will ensure the most vulnerable people will receive care.

Paramedics have urged residents to keep hydrated and cool as heat stroke can be fatal.

“Heatwaves are the most deadly natural phenomenon in Australia, claiming hundreds of lives each year,” AMA Queensland President Dr Chris Zappala said.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting temperatures above 40C in parts of southern Queensland and a high of 38C in Brisbane on Friday, nine degrees above the December average.

Friday is expected to be the hottest December day since 2001, when the mercury nudged 40C on Christmas Eve in Brisbane.

“Brisbane had a run of 40C and 39C from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day that year,” meteorologist Jeanine Yuasa told AAP.

The hottest day in Brisbane since the turn of the century was 41.7C in February 2004.

The heatwave is likely to continue into early next week.

William Davis – Wheat: The UNhealthy Whole Grain

December 2, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
The wheat of today is not the wheat of our mothers or grandmothers. Modern wheat is the product of genetic manipulations that have transformed its properties. Modern wheat is now a 2-foot tall, high-yield semi-dwarf strain, different in both appearance and multiple biochemical features from traditional wheat. Introduction of this new strain of wheat was associated with the appearance of a long list of health problems, along with weight gain and diabetes.

According to Dr. Davis, saying goodbye to all things wheat provides outsized and unexpected health benefits, from weight loss, to relief from acid reflux and bowel urgency, to reversal of diabetes, migraine headaches, and learning disabilities in children.

Dr. William Davis is author of the #1 New york Times bestselling book, Wheat Belly: Lose the wheat, lose the weight and find your path back to health (Rodale, 2011), now debuting internationally in over ten foreign languages. Wheat belly has helped spark a nationwide reconsideration of the conventional advice to “eat more healthy whole grains.”

Formerly an interventional cardiologist, he now confines his practice to prevention and reversal of coronary disease in his practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Davis is a graduate of the St. Louis University School of Medicine, followed by training in internal medicine and cardiology at the Ohio State University Hospitals, and training in interventional cardiology at the Case–Western Reserve Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also founder of the online heart disease prevention educational program, Track your Plaque.

Whats the Best Survival Knife (for Australia)

November 30, 2016 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
A lot of talk and listing goes on about unflinching ‘musts’ of a survival blade. These are generally qualities such as full tang, carbon steel, flat or sabre grind, and plain edge. And for the places most knife authorities play in, its fair enough given the tasks they expect of their knives. I think my native climate is diferent enough to relax on the hard and fast ‘rules’ of fixed blade camp knives and follow a more laid back philosophy.
