The War on Weeds: Firepower! – Campbell Produce

July 27, 2017 By Editor

Description given on Youtube:
Without using herbicides weeds have become a major problem this year. We are trying various methods to keep the weeds down, and this is the latest in our arsenal of weed control: the garden torch! It’s sort of an ominous tool, and extremely non-selective, but also extremely effective. This was our first time using a garden torch, and while the results are very encouraging, we will have to post a follow up video in a few days to truly show the results!

My New Tractor Won’t Run and the Repair is Not Covered by Warranty

Here’s an explosive situation…you’ve just purchased a new tractor, you’re out cleaning up in the woods with the brush hog and the tractor dies. You call the dealer you just bought it from and he tells you the problem may be something you created and if he has to send a technician out to look at it, you may have to pay for it. You are livid!!!

The sad fact is, that a very high percentage of “the tractor won’t run” calls that come into a dealership, especially from new tractor owners, are related to a problem they caused when doing something the tractor is designed to do. They’ve jammed a limb up in a safety switch and the tractor is dead in the water. The sad fact of the matter is, this is not a warranty issue from a factory defect. It’s a problem that was caused by the operator (that’s you), and the company that built the tractor will not compensate your friendly dealer for sending a service guy out to fix it. So, he either loses money and takes care of the problem and hopes to train you about how this is really your responsibility to prevent a recurrence, or, he tries to bill you, which isn’t going to make you happy.

So I did this last video in the series about safety switches to try to avoid a conflict later and keep peace in the family. If you’ll just learn where these safety switches are before there’s a problem, you may be able to hop off the tractor, dislodge the limb, restart the tractor and go about your merry way and no one gets angry. I’m actually trying to take care of both you and your local dealer here so you guys have a long, happy relationship.

You can do yourself a real favor as a new tractor owner by spending a little time online, studying how the tractor is put together. Several manufacturers make their parts book available online and if you own one of their brands you can locate all of these safety switches on your laptop in your easy chair. This is also good to know when you’re trying to replace a part that’s failed, many times you can be your own parts man after hours and get the part ordered and into your possession much earlier.

My main message; find your safety switches and look there first before calling your dealer if it won’t run. You’ll be doing yourself and your dealer a huge favor.
